Huawei and JAC Motors have officially unveiled the Maextro S800, a full-size luxury sedan positioned to rival premium brands in both technology and design. Priced between 708,000 and 1,018,000 yuan (approximately $98,300 to $141,000), the S800 exceeds the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class in size, stretching 5,480 mm in length and featuring a 3,370 mm wheelbase. Buyers can choose between a 4-seat or 5-seat configuration.
The Maextro S800 introduces a new “Zongheng Xinghan” design language, highlighted by a bold front with crystal headlights and a rear nebula-themed full-width taillight dubbed the “galaxy scroll.” The “MAEXTRO” branding is inspired by the Italian word maestro, underscoring the sedan’s commanding presence.
It is available in both pure electric and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) versions. The EV model features dual motors producing 390 kW and a 95 kWh battery, offering up to 702 km CLTC range with ultra-fast charging (10% to 80%) in just 12 minutes. The EREV variants use a 1.5L turbo engine alongside electric motors and a 65 kWh battery. The dual-motor EREV also delivers 390 kW, 400 km pure electric range, and up to 1,333 km total range. The tri-motor EREV boosts output to 635 kW, with a 365 km electric range and 1,200 km combined. All versions use Huawei’s Whale Battery 2.0.
Performance is a strong point: 0–100 km/h acceleration is 4.3 seconds (EV), 4.7 seconds (EREV tri-motor), and 4.9 seconds (EREV dual-motor). The S800 features rear-wheel steering with a ±12° range, enabling a compact 5.05-meter turning radius and crab-walk mode. Braking is handled by Brembo four-piston calipers with an advanced electro-hydraulic system.
The vehicle includes Huawei’s ADS 4 intelligent driving platform with four LiDAR units and 32 additional sensors, enabling functions such as precision parking, narrow-lane navigation, and obstacle avoidance. It runs on the Harmony ALPS 2.0 cockpit and is equipped with Huawei’s advanced Galaxy Communication system.
Safety has been prioritized with Huawei’s new Xuanwu architecture, boasting a reinforced body structure with high torsional stiffness and extensive use of ultra-high-strength steel. The car is engineered to meet top C-NCAP and C-IASI safety standards, and includes multi-layer battery protection and advanced thermal management.
Underneath, the Maextro S800 debuts the Tulindragon platform with an all-aluminum chassis, front double wishbone and rear five-link suspension, adaptive air suspension, CDC dampers, and a pioneering “spatiotemporal inference” system that anticipates road conditions.
The interior redefines bespoke luxury with calf leather upholstery, wood trim with seamless grain matching, hand-polished crystal accents, and precision metal elements. The cabin includes zero-gravity rear seats with full adjustability, massage, heating, ventilation, and a retractable privacy screen. A central “Executive Island” console offers aviation trays, a refrigerator with UV sterilization, a fingerprint-locked safe, and heated/cooled cup holders.
Rear passengers also enjoy dynamic starry sky lighting, intelligent privacy glass, and gesture-controlled door operations. The audio system is Huawei’s most advanced yet, with 43 speakers, 7.5.10 channels, and adaptive sound staging delivering 2,920W of immersive power.
The S800 introduces Huawei’s “Star-flash” digital key system, first integrated with the upcoming Huawei Watch 5. The key offers precise long-range detection, with unlocking beginning at 3 meters and accuracy maintained even during side-of-vehicle activities.
Initial deliveries of 599 units under the “Pioneer Program” began on June 26, with wider availability starting in mid-August.
